Service Description:

UPS will provide you with evidence of delivery in your choice of these options:

• Delivery Confirmation:

  • UPS will mail you a confirmation of delivery without a signature. Note: Similar information is available when you track your package online.

• Signature Required: 

  • UPS will obtain the recipient's signature or other electronic acknowledgment of receipt from the recipient when this option is selected and provide you with a printed copy. You may also view the recipient's signature or electronic acknowledgment of receipt online.

• Adult Signature Required: 

  • UPS will obtain the adult recipient's signature and provide you with a printed copy. Adult recipients must be at least 21. You may also view the adult recipient's signature online.

Service Description:

When you are shipping via FedEx, the default signature option is No Signature Required, Service Default.

• No signature required

  • There are many shipments FedEx delivers that do not require a signature from the recipient. In many cases, FedEx will still attempt to obtain a signature at the designated delivery address. If no one is available to sign, FedEx may leave the package in a safe place without obtaining a signature.

• Indirect signature required

  • FedEx will obtain a signature from someone at the delivery address or from somebody nearby, such as a neighbor or building manager. The recipient has the option to authorize the shipment to be released without anyone present. This change can be requested through FedEx Delivery Manager^®.

    • Signer requirements: May come from anyone meeting one of the following descriptions:

      1. Someone at the delivery address.
      2. Someone at a neighboring address.
      3. The recipient can sign a FedEx door tag authorizing the FedEx agent to deliver the package without anyone present. 

      If none of the following are available, FedEx will attempt to re-deliver.

• Adult signature required

  • FedEx obtains a signature from someone at the delivery address who is at least the age of majority (no longer a minor) in the destination country. Government-issued photo identification or other identification customarily accepted by local authorities is required. If there is no eligible recipient at the address, FedEx may reattempt the delivery. For U.S. deliveries, the recipient must be 21 years of age and present government-issued photo identification.
    • Signer requirements: Must come from someone at least 21 years of age at the delivery address (government-issued photo ID required). If no adult is present, FedEx will reattempt delivery.

• Direct signature required

  • Someone at the recipient’s address may sign for the delivery. Direct signature deliveries are made to the address on the mailing label, not to an individual recipient. If no one is at the address, FedEx may reattempt the delivery.

    • Signer requirements: Must come from someone at the delivery address. If no one is present, FedEx will attempt to re-deliver.
